The TSQ Quantum Access triple stage quadrupole mass spectrometer is designed to meet the quantitative and qualitative challenges of a broad range of applications, including: pharmaceutical, environmental, food safety, clinical research, and forensics. Based on the widely used TSQ Quantum system, it sets the benchmark for sensitivity in its class, and provides unmatched analytical specificity.

Why unsurpassed Price-to-Performance?

  • Innovative technology advantages such as Highly Selective Reaction monitoring (H-SRM ) and high-Field Asymmetric Ion Mobility Spectrometry (FAIMS), previously available only on advanced tandem mass spectrometers, are available features of the TSQ Quantum Access.
  • The TSQ Quantum Access features QED-S/MS (Quantification-Enhanced Data-Dependant MS/MS) that allows for simultaneous quantitative and qualitative analysis. The specificity provided by H-SRM followed by QED-MS/MS provides uncompromised quantitative performance at low levels followed by a fast, highly specific full MS/MS scan for confirmation.
  • TSQ Quantum Access provides Multiple-component Screening. The ability to do more than 300 H-SRM acquisitions as well as triggering data-dependant full scan MS/MS (with dynamic exclusion) gives the multi-component screening experiment an added dimension of specificity. Use of H-SRM triggered product ion scans on the TSQ Quantum Access minimizes the potential for “false positive” results, especially when analyzing complex samples. Unmatched specificity results in added confidence of analyses.
  • A built-in searchable library of pesticides is provided to aid confirmation of the presence of target analytes. This feature makes the TSQ Quantum Access immediately productive in environmental and food safety laboratories.
  • The TSQ Quantum Access includes a database of methodologies for the analysis of pesticides, azo dyes and banned pharmaceuticals in water and food residues. Coupled to the Accela fast LC system with 1.9um Hypersil Gold column technology, faster LC-MS/MS methods can be developed without compromising chromatographic resolution. The fast switching detection system on the TSQ Quantum Access, along with the Accela LC system, provides an integrated platform for the analysis of unknowns in complex matrices associated with environmental and food safety analysis.

Let’s look at the other benefits of the TSQ Quantum Access:

SIMULTANEOUS QUANTITATION AND STRUCTURAL CONFIRMATION
Quantitation-Enhanced Data-Dependent™ MS/MS (QED-MS/MS) provides significant benefits for multi-residue screening and quantitation experiments. With the ability to perform Highly
Selective Reaction Monitoring (H-SRM), the MS/MS data is cleaner and less complex, making it easily
searchable against an internal library for added confirmation during screening assays. A related innovation is the reversed energy ramp (RER) feature, which allows the user to create libraries that are searchable on TSQ
Quantums universally. The same library can be used in several laboratories all over the world – this is a first for triple stage quadrupole-based MS/MS structural identification.

ROBUST AND SENSITIVE IONIZATION SOURCES FOR ROUND-THE-CLOCK PRODUCTIVITY
The Thermo Scientific Ion Max source has a revolutionary design, imparting superior performance and sensitivity. An aviation-grade titanium metal skimmer and specially contoured ion transfer tube for high ion transmission make the Ion Max™ the most robust commercially available ion source.

ZERO CROSS-TALK COLLISION CELL AT 2 ms DWELL TIME
When performing LC-MS/MS analysis of multi-component mixtures by SRM, it is often necessary to use very short dwell times of 10-20 milliseconds (ms). In certain circumstances, for example in the environmental monitoring of pesticides, it is possible to get a large number of closely eluting compounds of the same chemical class, giving rise to the same product ions. In such assays, it is possible that storage of the product ions can take place in the collision cell, resulting in cross-talk, and therefore incorrect quantification. The innovative 90° collision cell in the TSQ Quantum eliminates any cross-talk.

The unique 90 degrees collision cell reduces chemical noise by
removing “line-ofsight” between the ion source and the detector.
The design reduces instrument footprint, creating a conveniently
sized instrument.

WIDE RANGE OF SOFTWARE
Xcalibur™ Data System, LCQUAN™–Quantitation Software for Regulated Laboratories, MetWorks™–Metabolite
Identification Software and Mass Frontier™– Spectral Management Tools are available for use with the TSQ Quantum Access.

In summary, the key features of the TSQ Quantum Access are

  • Mass range of m/z 30-3000
  • QED-MS/MS, a new technique for simultaneous quantitation and analyte identification
  • Over 300 H-SRM acquisitions for confidence in multi-component screening
  • H-SRM standard for superior quantitation
  • H-SRM triggered data dependent full scan MS/MS, Neutral loss and Precursor ion scans, with full Dynamic Exclusion capability
  • FAIMS compatible for ultimate specificity
