Thermo Fisher Scientific, the pioneer in ion trap technology, introduces the LCQ Fleet™ ion trap mass spectrometer, the latest addition to its award-winning family of ion trap instruments. As the newest member of the LCQ series, this cost effective ion trap mass spectrometer delivers high quality structural information for routine analysis of the most complex samples, on a high-throughput basis.

The LCQ Fleet is designed to meet the needs of general analytical chemistry, toxicology screening, drug discovery or proteomics. The LCQ Fleet™ provides many advantages that results in benefits such as minimization of resources, reduction in analysis time and accuracy in results. This is how the LCQ Fleet benefits you in the various applications:

Compound Screening and Identification
LCQ Fleet is the ideal instrument for the comprehensive and accurate GUS analysis in a high-throughput environment. The LCQ Fleet allows the identification of groups of GUS compounds using library searches in minutes. The LCQ Fleet maximizes LC/MS information with rapid and reliable compound detection and structural identification. The benefits of the LCQ Fleet for this application include:

  • High sensitivity and specificity for more accurate results at a lower detection level compared to traditional methods
  • Fast positive/negative switching allows the analysis of more compounds with less sample in less time
  • Standard normalized collisional energy generates reproducible spectra for library searching
  • Proven reliability and ease of use for LC-MS

Identification of Natural Products
The LCQ Fleet significantly reduces the need for a lengthy pre-purification process while delivering high quality results. It is especially suited for the routine identification of complex natural products. The
benefits include:

  • Reduction or elimination of time-consuming pre-purification steps with the ability to quickly analyze complex samples
  • The fast cycle time of the LCQ Fleet matches the fast LC separation of the Accela High Speed LC, enabling rapid analysis of numerous samples
  • Excellent MS spectra quality ensures the confident structural characterization and compound identification
  • The Ion Max™ source delivers outstanding robustness for the most demanding analytical applications
Multiple ionization methods, including ESI, APCI, APPI and more, provide maximum flexibility to achieve comprehensive sample information
  • Data can be directly analyzed by Mass Frontier™ software for compound identification and data reporting

Complex Proteomics Analysis
The advancement of proteomics analysis requires high accuracy and more productivity from your experiments. The LCQ Fleet routinely delivers excellent results for complex proteomics study. It has several features that make it well-suited for these applications:

  • •Fast scanning resolves co-eluting peptides often present in complex protein digests during real time, on-line LC/MS proteomics analysis
  • High sensitivity enables the detection of trace compounds in a complex mixture
  • High quality MS spectra provide routine peptide identification with high correlation scores for confident sequence identification
  • Pulsed Q Dissociation (PQD) for the detection of low mass fragments for iTRAQ™ analysis
  • Fast enhanced scan and zoom scan allow reliable charge states recognition of peptide ions
  • High resolution isolation (HRI) allows accurate MS n analysis without interference from isotopic ions

Use the LCQ Fleet with the Xcalibur software to provide automated LC-MS/MS system control and data acquisition for complex sample analysis. The module Data Dependent™ Acquisition triggers acquisition of MS spectra only when a compound of interest is detected. The module Dynamic Exclusion™ allows acquisition of MS spectra from lower intensity ion species. The module Automatic Gain Control™ (AGC) ensures that the ion trap is always filled with the optimum number of ions for any scan type. The module WideBand Activation™ fragments the water loss ion within an MS/MS spectrum, generating more structurally informative spectra. The module Normalized Collision Energy™ compensates for the mass-dependent
energy deposition in ion trap MS/MS experiments, providing reproducible data from instrument to instrument. The module Pulsed-Q Dissociation (PQD)™ enables trapping of low mass fragment ions. Automated features enable all users, from novice to expert, to easily analyze and interpret sample
analysis data. Application-specific software aids data processing and compound identification.
